Dr. Jenkins specializes in fractures of the frontal sinus, orbits (eye sockets), zygoma (cheekbone), nasal bones, maxilla (upper jaw), and mandible (lower jaw). For life-threatening injuries, call 911 immediately. For non-life-threatening facial fractures or dental trauma, call our office at 801-437-7701. Dr. Jenkins is on staff at local hospitals and can coordinate your care. Can a knocked-out tooth be saved? Yes, if treated quickly. Handle the tooth by the crown (not the root), rinse gently with water, and try to reinsert it in the socket. If that's not possible, store it in milk or between your cheek and gum and get to our office within 30–60 minutes. How are facial fractures repaired? Depending on the fracture type and location, treatment ranges from observation and a soft diet to surgical repair using titanium plates and screws. Most repairs are performed through small incisions inside the mouth or in inconspicuous locations to minimize visible scarring. Will I have visible scars after facial trauma surgery? Dr. Jenkins makes every effort to place incisions in natural skin folds or inside the mouth whenever possible.
